Technical Aspects of Photograph
LIGHTING:
Where is the light coming from, and how does it fall on the subject of the photo?
The light is coming from the sky (above) in the photo, and it looks like the photo was taken on a cloudy day because the light covers the entire image evenly, rather than shining on one direct part of it.
Contrast – Does the photo have both highlights (white whites) and shadows (black blacks)?
The photo has no extreme highlights or shadows, even though there are highlights on the seat of the tricycle and small shadows under the wheels.
Exposure- Is the photo over or under-exposed? (too dark or light)
The sky is all white but not overexposed, and there are no really dark parts of the image, so i would say that it is evenly exposed.
Is the photograph in focus?
Yes, the photo is completely in focus
Has the photographer employed the shutter speed or depth of field to create special effects in the photo? Describe.
This is a still photo, so it most likely was taken at a faster shutter speed, and it has a deep depth of field, because the houses in the background are not completely blurry, you can still see the details of objects that are not the focal point of the image, or objects in the back
Composition
What camera angle was used? (point of view)
The point of view is looking at the side of the tricycle, slightly below it, and it looks like the photographer was lying on the ground to take the photo
Is the photograph (symmetrical, asymmetrical or radial) balanced?
The photograph is slightly asymmetrical because the tricycle isn’t centered in the image, and it is not a symmetrical object being photographed.
Does this photo meet the guidelines of the Rule of Thirds?
The photo meets the rule of thirds, because the front wheel and handlebars, as well as the house in the background are on the left third, and the back wheels and the other house are on the right third. The handlebars are on the top third, and the wheels are on the bottom third.
Is there a clear focal point or center of interest? (no distracting backgrounds, the subject of the photo is evident)
The focal point is the tricycle, and there is nothing really distracting from it because it is the largest and most focused object in the image
Is the photograph horizontal or vertical? Is it effective in this direction, or would it be better the opposite way?
The photo is horizontal and it works better in this direction because the tricycle moves forward, across the ground, and it is more important to have the ground in the image than the sky.
Has the photographer visually framed the photo or created a sense of depth with foreground, middleground and background?
The photo is not visually framed with anything, but there is a good sense that the tricycle is in the middle ground, while the pavement is the foreground and the houses are the background
Is the photograph composed to effectively lead your eye through the work? (Are there any leading lines in the piece?)
The bike is the center of the photo, and it leads the eye back to the houses, and then to the ground that it is on, and the part between the houses and the ground makes a natural leading line for the eye to follow
How did you emulate your photographs? (subject matter, theme, style, lighting, composition, setting, mood emotion).
